Transmission tune FAQs

Why do I need a Transmission tune?

The factory Transmission calibration, sometimes referred to as DSG, DCT, or TCU, limits torque and clutch pressure. We rescale these limits and optimize the transmission calibration for improved drivability, shift behavior, and responsiveness.

How do I install the Transmission tune?

Your Transmission Tune is installed using your eFlash dongle or compatible J2534 interface. This is done directly through the OBD2 diagnostic port and only takes a few minutes for the entire process. See more here →

Is a Transmission Tune safe?

We take great care to retain and enhance the factory protections within the transmission while properly recalibrating torque limits and clutch control.

Do I need an Engine tune with a Transmission tune?

No. You can install a Transmission Tune while retaining the factory engine calibration and power level. However, pairing an Engine and Transmission Tune provides the best overall experience by allowing both calibrations to work together.

Is there a performance difference between a Staged or Custom Transmission Tune?

Not generally, but there is more room for optimization with a Custom Tune. Custom tuning allows for more in-depth adjustments to shift points, drivability, responsiveness, and launch control, which can be especially important with upgraded clutches.
