Overview

Your stock transmission calibration (tune) is designed for comfort and fuel economy. Our Transmission Tuning elevates this experience by improving the core functionality of the transmission. This delivers snappier and more engaged driving. Pair this with our Engine Tuning for a transformative driving experience – this is how it should have been from the factory.

Core Performance

Faster upshifts/downshifts
Increased clutch pressure and torque limitations
Optional shift point optimizations for Comfort and Dynamic/Sport drive modes – stock, OEM+ or OEM++ available
Raised redline shift points with standard auto-upshift in Manual/Tiptronic
Improved launch control
Enhanced clutch cooling strategy
Gear display enabled in Drive/Sport/Tiptronic (D/S/M)

Stage Breakdown

Advanced Information

Transmission Tuning
  • The stock transmission calibration (tune) prioritizes comfort and efficiency at the expense of responsiveness and driving pleasure.
  • Shift speed increased
  • Increased clutch pressure and rescaled torque limitations
  • Redline shift points raised
  • Standard auto-upshift in M/Tiptronic (optionally disabled)
  • Optional shift point optimization for Comfort and Dynamic/Sport drive modes with OEM+ or OEM++ calibrations for all Staged Transmission Tunes
  • Improved launch control with the 200 launch limit removed
  • Enhanced clutch cooling strategy
  • Gear display enabled in Drive/Sport/Tiptronic (D/S/M) - Vehicle and box code dependent
  • Standing rev limit in park/neutral raised to 6000 rpm (requires matching engine tune)

Transmission Tune FAQs

Why do I need a Transmission tune?

The factory Transmission calibration, sometimes referred to as DSG, DCT, or TCU, limits torque and clutch pressure. We rescale these limits and optimize the transmission calibration for improved drivability, shift behavior, and responsiveness.

How do I install the Transmission tune?

Your Transmission Tune is installed using your eFlash dongle or compatible J2534 interface. This is done directly through the OBD2 diagnostic port and only takes a few minutes for the entire process. See more here →

Is a Transmission Tune safe?

We take great care to retain and enhance the factory protections within the transmission while properly recalibrating torque limits and clutch control.

Do I need an Engine tune with a Transmission tune?

No. You can install a Transmission Tune while retaining the factory engine calibration and power level. However, pairing an Engine and Transmission Tune provides the best overall experience by allowing both calibrations to work together.

Is there a performance difference between a Staged or Custom Transmission Tune?

Not generally, but there is more room for optimization with a Custom Tune. Custom tuning allows for more in-depth adjustments to shift points, drivability, responsiveness, and launch control, which can be especially important with upgraded clutches.
